Local food banks, like “Our Father’s Kitchen” at United Lutheran, continue to struggle, reporting extraordinary demand across Pierce County. With this food shortage taking place in our local area, the people of First Lutheran Church (FLC) continue to be in a unique position to help support local charities. Our last two Food Gathering events were quite successful and Our Father’s Kitchen & the food bank at Christ the King Lutheran thank you for your generosity.

The first weekend in July is now upon us and FLC will again gather Food on Friday, July 3, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. As before, Jim Ofelt has volunteered to receive all donations, food, and monetary, and take them to Our Father’s Kitchen. If you would like to write a check, make it out to First Lutheran Church and on the memo line write: Food Gathering.
To maintain your own safety and Jim’s, please wear a mask as you exit your car to make your donation. Everyone is welcome to make a food or monetary donation as we attempt to fill the food shortage, and fill the stomachs of those in desperate need.
