John the Baptist had the great privilege and responsibility to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. He took on this task boldly and humbly. He said, “After me will come One more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit” (Mark 1:7-8). As stewards we would do well to pay attention to John’s attitude and emulate his actions – preparing the way so others may believe in the One who is our joy and salvation.

Prayer: Gracious Lord, help me to go out and tell those around me of your love. Strengthen my faith so that I will boldly proclaim the Good News. In the name of Jesus the Christ I pray. Amen.
